Still a Thriller!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Just a little trick or treat interlude.

Halloween is named for “all hallows eve” which is the night before “all saints day” a Catholic liturgical vigil. And that day is followed by the “Feast of All Souls.” Christendom celebrated in many ways- in Brittony the celebration was solemn and the Bretons beleived that souls were released from purgatory on that night and allowed to visit their homesteads. (Is that where “zombies” came from?)

Pagans also celebrated the night with bonfires and feasting and “Samhain” who is the “lord of death” who cast wayward souls into the bodies of animals as pennance for their misdeeds.

The custom of trick or treating began with an ancient English custom of knocking at doors to beg for a “soul cake” in return for which the beggars promised to pray for the dead of the household. Soul cakes, a form of shortbread, eventually evolved into doughnuts. The neverending circle or torus is a shape included in sacred geometry and connotes eternity.

There are many stories and legends that accompany Halloween that are passed down from the Middle Ages.

A new and memorable legend of the twentieth century that threatens to also become eternal is Michael Jackson and his “Thriller” music that is inextricably connected now to Halloween and is commenmorated annually by the “Thrill the World” event that breaks records for the most dancers simultaneously dancing around the world and raises funds for charities.

My peasure. Kids “get it” because their minds and their energy are clear and only a short time out from the land of clear love and energy from whence they came. A mind not clouded or “tabloided” or indoctrinated linked to its intuition perceives without judgment. “Can you feel it?”

    Dear Barbara,

I know this is off topic, but I am reading Aphrodite Jones’ book The Michael Jackson Conspiracy. I’ve had it for awhile but couldn’t bring myself to read it. My God, what this man endured. How he lived to be 50 is a miracle because most would have done away with themselves. That is why I cry because I feel his pain, his humiliation, his grief over having lost Neverland. Yet he held his head high with grace and dignity. This man has made his way into my heart and I still cannot believe it. I do not care for celebs of any kind or genre, but this man. He truly was an innocent in a not so innocent world. I truly believe that having researched his life. I wish his name will finally be cleared in my lifetime. But I don’t know. There are still vultures out there trying to dig up dirt or for sure manufacture it.

It only takes an allegation and that is it. Anyone can make an accusation and it ruins lives. So truly tragic.

Katie, Actually, it’s not off topic. Your question and concern requires a long and thoughtful answer. The issues you raise are a perfect segue into the next topic and the next blog entry. Stay tuned. ~B

“…moves from a man still bringing the world together…” and in his magnificent memory lets say a prayer Obama is back for another term on this most important day.
…without a Michael Jackson there would be no Barack Obama…Reverend Al Sharpton

Yes, I have no doubt Michael paved the way for President Obama. Having spent the day glued to CNN, with a knowing that it was a pivotal moment in American history,we now have a spiritual man in the white house for 4 more years. Magic! He has the young vote. Is this the time that politics in America will begin coming together for the sake of the Planet and Humanity? I say Yes! Namaste to All,

I say yes too that vision too. And yes, Michael Jackson was a freedom fighter and without his influence, it might have taken another decade or two to see a black man in the white house orbit. Adam Clayton Powell, Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, Colin Powell as well as Michael all brought the reality closer.

Thank you Rev. Barbara. I actually signed up for this in LA this year, but my work schedule didn’t allow it. That’s ok though. I will try again next year. Michael’s influence is still very strong and to see the impact that he has on babies, young people and people of all ages brings a smile to my face. 🙂

This might be off topic but I wanted to share that I attended the SISTER GIANT conference this weekend with Marianne Williamson. The conference was truly amazing, but what really resonated with me was that all throughout the conference and especially during the wrap-up the messages that were being conveyed were exactly what Michael always communicated to the world. “This is It” was used many times. My immediate thought was “Oh WOW, Michael knew about this. This was and still is his message.” I understand that this is a message that many people try to communicate. It just caught me off guard because it almost felt like he was there saying it.

Thank you for sharing these videos. It’s fun to watch the influence that Michael has upon the world. <3

That is exactly what I have been saying since I started Inner Michael. I will say it once again: “Michael knew.” Now that you have attended Sister Giant, go back and read “Dancing the Dream.” But fasten your seatbelt first.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson

I am so glad you attended that conference. Now, keep shining! LYM ~B
