Uncanny. Otherworldly. It’s as if you have stepped from this world into another one. Is there a secret handshake? A code word to get in? Will someone take you by the arm and lead you down a secret passageway to the land of Never Never walk without LOVE?
What is it that makes Michael Jackson fans well… Michael Jackson fans? There really is no definition of a Michael Jackson fan. And yet there is. The secret handshake is an invisible one and the code word is whispered silently. And if you’re not a member, you’re not getting in.
So what is it? Well, first of all– it’s not something you decide. You don’t wake up one day and decide to be a Michael Jackson fan. You don’t get invited or recruited, at least not by other fans. It’s not the music, and yet it is. It’s not the lyrics, and yet it is. It’s not the dancing, and yet it is. It’s not just the music, or lyrics, or dancing or his voice or his looks, or his message or even the man. And yet it is. It’s all of that. But it’s so much more. It’s the journey of discovery and then the discovery that it’s so much more, it’s so much bigger than that. There is something about those MJ fans… they know something the rest of the world doesn’t. Led by a most unlikely messenger and message… they are on their way to somewhere the world has yet to discover…

I had not seen the video when I wrote my 1st comment. After seeing it I felt the necessity of writing one more… In the process of knowing Michael Jackson, the man– I like everybody else– watched his videos and it used to tear me up but now.. no more… I feel emotional still but not to the point of tearing up. But for some strange reason, these days seeing Michael Jackson’s admirers… the man who hold up his message in their acts ‘n hearts takes me to the edge… I love you all.
Rumi, the famous mystical poet must have had Michael in mind when he said…”When you are dead, seek for your resting-place. Not in the earth, but in the hearts of men.” Michael indeed found his resting place in our hearts.

Rev. Barbara, Uncanny! I am sure you read minds. Taking part in our local Pub quiz, Michael or his music sometimes feature. A whole round of questions with pictures of him cropped up this week. My heart gave a little jump as it always does when I hear his name mentioned, and I sat looking at his face contemplating why I liked this man so much. I couldn’t have described it better than the words you have written here. I watched the video and remember that the white rose held significance from something you wrote some time ago. As for the little guy dancing – well amazing.

I feel you. I learned about Inner Michael after I became a dot on Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait. I have been on a special/spiritual journey for the two years since Michael passed and have discovered more about myself by learning new things about Michael. It’s definitely been an awakening. I think that there is a much deeper spiritual connection between Michael and his fans. He was definitely more than just a singer or a dancer he was an example that we could all learn from about compassion and the importance of unity, brotherhood, and forgiveness towards other people. And I am also learning to appreciate the power of the creativity I’ve been gifted with.
