What man 
Icon or Superstar
says “I love you”
over and over
sings ballads
while making love
unabashed in public
to a hundred thousand
women and men
at the same time?
What man
slight of stature
becomes a demon
powerhouse of force
not to be denied
when he steps
from ordinary reality
onto a platform,
the stage and sage
raised?
What man
gives his body to music
lets her have her way
sacrifices everything
and nothing
for her writhing pulse
perfume of sound,
beguiling and possessive
this jealous mistress—
love of his life
only to pass her on?
What man withstands
the envy of primal males
projections of women
who want to heal
and love
but can’t in this way,
so see only threat
in his erotica
that worships them?
What man gives
and gives until empty
while withstanding torture
ridicule and revile
from those he lives to serve
yet yields to revelation
forgives only to
return once more to try
or die?
What man leaves—
leaves the world reeling
wondering in the wake
who was that man of many faces
many masks
what did he want with us
and why does he still
confound and abound
in the darkness?
What man bequeaths
the image of his lifetime
a mirror lightman
reflecting culutural images
projected onto him
while he waits entombed
and imprisoned in illusions
till he can be free
born into the light
when those in darkness
finally see
and also emerge?

The “Heartlight” photo was taken with a camera from the Michael Jackson Opus. Each time this photo was taken the light appeared in the area of Michael’s heart. The people who sent the photo were going to use it for a greeting card to leave at Forest Lawn during their trip to the U.S. They have used the camera hundreds of times before and hundreds of times since but this effect has never been duplicated in other pictures. At first they thought it was an effect of the flash, but they realized they did not have the flash turned on. They then took the Opus to another room to photograph thinking that maybe it was the lighting in the room. The photo taken then had the same area of light. They then took photos of other objects in the room and there was no light. Even the most skeptical person they have shown this photo says that the light is not from a flash. They then changed the page in the Opus and took another photo and the light reappears this time around Michael’s mouth. The effect only shows up when they photograph Michael and with no other objects in the room.

Such a powerful poem and statement. I have reaction and not sure why. Have to read the words over and over. Indeed what man left his world so confounded and astounded. More than song or dance or images on film..the being perhaps or the strength and length of the message. How do answers come and will we ever know? A man, indeed?

Oh, Barb … thanks for the credit on the photo … I knew you would find a wonderful way to use it … and you did! Wonderful poem to accompany it! Thank you for giving the photo words – letting it speak! When I was playing with it, I was amazed at how well all the chakras were lining up with this photograph. The story about the heartlight just gives me shivers. That is amazing! And the light at the mouth. Wow! Goosebumps, anyone?

I have been asked if the photos here have been photoshopped. The Chakra photo is a photoshopped overlay of an illustration of the chakra system onto a photo of Michael. The other two photos (heartlight and mouth lignt) are pictures taken with a digital camera of Michael Jackson Opus. No, they have not been altered in any way. The story explains. And another little piece of synchronicity- the couple who sent me these photos met at a nightclub they were visiting overseas. He asked her to dance and the love story began. Barbara, I absolutely love the poem. Yes, who is the man who has turned all of our worlds upside down. And my God those photos with the light… Well, we all knew Michael had the light inside of him. And now it is coming out for the whole world to see its way out of the darkness. ~Gerri
Barbara, I am really lost for words. The poem is absolutely beautiful and it is as though it was written at the same time as the pictures were taken. It portrays them wonderfully. As for the light appearing in the pictures, Michael was the light, but some were too blind to see it when he was alive. I do hope that they can see it now.
No matter how often I look at the pics with the light effect, they still give me goose bumps.

No, really, I wish he could have known you as his “spiritual advisor”. The healing of his badly tormented psyche would have put him on the path to redemption and triumph.

The poem is beautiful. I love the photos.. They are blessed to have Michael communicate with them in such a creative and spiritual way! These are what I call Michael Momnets.. Michael is so much more then we can imagine! So powerful, so full of light, so full of LOVE. Michael is talking to us in various ways to hundreds and hundreds and even more. who sees his heart, or may have the ability to do so.
