Inner Michael

Michael Jackson’s plan to showcase the giant “Lightman” in the concerts planned for the O2 Arena and its prominence in the film “This Is It” carries a message beyond the aesthetic. It is no accident and it contains a symbolic communiqué that many metaphysicians would recognize. Another semiotic piece encodes a message just as so much of Michael’s work does. During the HIStory tour, Michael takes us on a journey through time in a space capsule as a spaceman who can time travel. He highlights the past along its historic trajectory and tells us to be mindful that each day we are creating our history and leaving our legacy in our wake. We travel through time with Michael as our guide.

The “Lightman” is our arrival at the destination. Lightman points toward the future. He is a reference to the future—the future world and a future “man.” Michael was a messenger and spiritual teacher for our time. He encodes the way to the future and the future human in a most unusual language: a simple symbol in a concert featuring an entertainer and pop star. The messenger hides in plain sight along with the message. What is Michael saying with Lightman in that venue and with that precise voice given him by the creator? “Voice” meaning the sound that comes from Michael and his throat and vocal ability of course, but the “voice” Michael has on a stage become a worldwide podium or his voice in the world. He is doing what he has always done; he is speaking to us subliminally: in the language of symbols, parables and metaphors. He is bypassing the mind and intellect and suggesting something to our inner self or soul– using our human senses as the translator.

Michael points us toward the way of the future. He brought us through history, showcased some significant events and even demonstrated for us the modern man in the giant sculpture dressed in military garb in the midst of chaos. In a single symbol Michael showed us our collective human psyche with its cultural values. It (and he) says “tribalism.” Tribalism is the human propensity for making “other” those who are not like self. Tribalism makes “other” the enemy and is militant in approach to those considered “other.” Tribalism says “mine” and “ours” and confines “them” to areas demarcated by dividing lines on the planet called countries. It is a “turf war on a global scale.” Those lines keep “others” out and demonstrates an affinity for instruments of war and war making. Tribes solve their problems and settle disagreements with war. With this sculpture, he illustrates the glorification of self and individual ego. That was and is our history: tribalism, self (or tribal) glorification and superiority and war making while making the “other” a threat or enemy. And we see the sea of humanity showing its loyalty and dedication to this way of being in the world historically adopted by our species—humanity. Those who understand the term “military industrial complex” would understand this giant symbol of man’s treatment of those he makes “other.”

Instead of embracing “other” as part of the human family (“You’re just another part of me”) and understanding that we are one—one species, one family, one spirit, we as a collective society have not grown up; we have spent our adolescent years in the pastime of infighting, killing and war making. In This Is It, he warns us. He says “This is it.” It seems we matured a little from our experience of nuclear age that took us up to the edge of a complete annihilation of all human life. But now we face the demise of the planet through our irresponsible use of its resources and our failure to grasp the magnitude of what we have done and the consequences. (“Look what we’ve done to the world!”) Michael now guides us along the journey to the new human, the new human experience and the new world we are destined to create.

Or not.

How? “Lightman!” The message is all about evolution. Evolution of the human species is not just material but biological; it includes consciousness. The evolution of consciousness is also along a trajectory of history and the human thrust toward enlightenment. The question is: “Will be become an enlightened species?” Will we come to understand that we are all one—that we are one big human family and that our modern dividing lines are the beliefs we hold? Enlightenment means the light dawns in the human mind—the spiritual evolution of humanity is about grasping some truths about us and our condition. It is the spiritual evolution of the human that “Lightman” speaks of and it is about light, about alchemy and transfiguration. Michael encodes something amazing in this work. There are many artists who have shown us a similar message. Lightman is not a new concept although encoding it in the language of music and through a modern and unlikely messenger or prophet hidden in plain sight on a world stage is novel. It appears both Michael and God have a sense of humor.

It’s an old struggle, duality. The dark vs. the light. Good vs. evil. The dark shadowy mind or the enlightened one. Lucifer who was called “the light bearer” and Archangel Michael who wields his sword for God.  Think Luke Skywalker and his light saber and Darth Vader in Star Wars and his shadow persona. Think Cocoon and the aliens being light-beings who lose their lightbody when humans unwittingly drain their energy by swimming and absorbing their hibernating bio-energy. These are aliens who are light beings that disguise themselves in human casing, in human skin and human form. And older humans cause the demise of their energy hosts in the pool by absorbing the light energy that has the power to rejuvenate them and reverse aging. Think Close Encounters of the Third Kind and the light beings and message encoded in the music. Think Avatar and beings who leave behind light in their footsteps. And for that matter, beings who dance on sidewalks and Moon Walk and leave eerie light in their footfalls and everything they touch yet who cannot be captured by cameras or the naked eye. All that glitters is not always gold; sometimes it’s light or a metaphor for light. Or a way to say “I am in the light; I cannot be found.”

Lightman represents a being of light and is a silent parable and metaphor for the enlightened human. In This Is It, Lightman is actually a lighthouse or beacon that points the way to a life more enlightened, a world that is a better place and a planet in immediate need of custodial stewards. Gurus have always spoken of enlightenment, the path to enlightenment and the light body.  A body infused with light and the god vibe is radiant—a bioluminescent entity. It is an attractor field. It resonates at a high frequency. And people can feel that. Students of masters and disciples of gurus can tell you about that and about the lightbody.

In the more advanced Michael Messages we have been exploring the Chakra system. The chakra system is a spectrum of light that overlays the human body. It constitutes a rainbow—the red frequency at the groin that contains and resonates to the base and basic needs of the human—procreation and survival. The rainbow then ascends up the body with yellow in the sacral region, green in the heart, blue in the throat, Indigo in the forehead and purple at the crown. It is a map or reference for the spiritual development or ascension of the human spirit. The chakras correspond to certain esoteric characteristics and functions of the human as it demonstrates a path to enlightenment given us by ancient cultures of the Hindus. Other systems and symbols refer esoterically to this spiritual path and these same traits—the Christian cross, the Caduceus or Aesculapian staff symbol in medicine, the Kabala, Jacob’s Ladder and some even point to the structure of the DNA molecule as representational of this ladder of enlightenment or ascension to the enlightened being.

The chakras are spinning wheels of energy that may be open or closed depending on the various stages of development of the individual. So what happens in the light spectrum when you blend all of these colors? It is a scientific fact that black is the absence of color while the presence of all colors blended gives us white light. Hold a prism in the light, and the prism breaks down the white light into the light spectrum that includes all colors—a prism produces a rainbow. Superimpose a full spectrum rainbow over the human body and you get white light. Open all the chakras through the development of certain spiritual attributes, and you get a light being. Lightman!

This journey to enlightenment was recently featured in another modern “Lightman” at the  Comomnwealth Games in New Delhi, India last week. The opening ceremony featured a Hindu or Buddhist Lightman with the chakras prominent and lighted.

Did Michael Jackson know about enlightenment stuff and did he incorporate that symbol deliberately? Well he was certainly inspired. He often spoke of the divine and he credited his creativity and inspired work as being “created in space.”He talked about “channeling” the creativity—the creative fire we spoke about in the last post. And he credited God. He was reading the spiritual and mystical poetry of Rabindrath Tagore, Rumi, and Hafiz. He read Christian mysticism texts and he meditated. He was taught the Hindu spiritual system of chakras by Deepak Chopra. Michael fasted, meditated and ate a pure vegetarian diet—all spiritual practices known to increase the capacity of human being to hold light, develop their lightbody and radiate that light through their field.

Luminescence is referred to often in scripture from the bush that burned to the angels surrounded by light and how a holy etheric “light shone around them.” Halos and bio-fields are commonly mentioned in scripture and modern metaphysicians reference the cultivation of light and the lightbody. Metaphysics teaches about frequency and vibe and about light. Science says that light is the fastest thing in the Universe and that as an object approaches the speed of light it begins to flicker and eventually disappear because it can no longer be seen. (“I am in the light where I cannot be found; it’s as if I’m standing here in this place called hallowed ground.”)

When Michael says “created in space” he is referring to the field. Scriptures talk about the manifest and the unmanifest. The unmanifest is a reference to the abyss or the field of that which does not yet exist. It is the place before creation. Comparably science might call it a black hole or antimatter. And the edge is called the event horizon—the place where a kind of transfiguration occurs. The greatest unmanifest field would have existed before the “big bang.” The manifest refers to everything which has come into being since then. The unmanifest holds what is possible but is not yet in existence.

All things have a field, sometimes called “attractor field.” The attractor field appears magnetic and draws everything of its same frequency into its orbit. An analogy is the black hole—it attracts everything and swallows whatever comes into its gravitational pull. Has anyone ever asked what you “gravitate toward?”

“Field” refers to the sphere of possibility. Rupert Sheldrake wrote about M-Fields, short for Morphogenetic Fields. Lynne McTaggart just called it “the field” and wrote about the effects of intention even defying the accepted laws of linear time and Larry Dossey who studies non-local consciousness in healing and distance healing in particular. They speak about the field that surrounds and interpenetrates all physical matter. There is a biological aura or energetic field also that interpenetrates the human and surrounds the body. Alternative medicine recognizes this bio-field and uses it for healing in Acupuncture, Reiki and energy medicines.   

Human evolution is more than biology, the organic or genetic aspects of human development traced through anthropology. It also refers to the evolution of consciousness. If our consciousness were to evolve to that stage of enlightenment, we would become light bearers. In the symbol of Lightman in Michael’s This Is IT, you notice that the surface is reflective. It is a mirror. A mirror man. It reflects what is projected onto it. It becomes a reflection of what is projected onto it.  A man with a mirror?

If we, humanity were to adopt the idea that we are indeed all “one” and were collectively to evolve to a consciousness where we live from that knowledge and embrace all “others” as brothers, we would end wars and begin to see the divine inherent in all beings. If we were to activate and engage our divine blueprint, fully develop our light within (Inner Michael) and embody our bright shadow and express It in the world, we would become beings of light—Lightman! We would shine our light into the world and the world would be a mirror of that.

Or not.

That is one powerful message. One powerful challenge. And yes, this is it.
